Yongmeori Coast is located in front of Sanbang Mountain. It literally means the head of a dragon and the seaside area looks like a dragon raising its head in preparation to jump into the sea. It is known to be the oldest volcanic formation in Jeju. The sandstone layers which are tens of millions of years old. A mass of volcanic ash from the powerful interaction between water and lava during early eruptions was pushed up along the seashore. Three separate layered volcanic formations were eroded over the eons by waves that eventually carved out the shape of a dragon’s head.
