Jeongbang Falls is among the top three waterfalls of Jeju island and is the only one in Asia to fall directly into the ocean. It is 23m high and 10m wide. Also it’s called ‘Jeongbang-hapok’ due to its picturesque scene when viewed from a boat and is one of 10 Scenic Wonders of Jeju island.
It is famous for a legend of ‘Seobul’ who is an envoy of Shi Huangdi during the Qin Dynasty and came to Halla mountain in Jeju island to search for an elixir of an eternal life. After he failed to find the elixir, he carved ‘Seobulgwaji’ on the cliff of the falls and headed to the west.
