Gwaneumsa Tril is the roughest among those Hallasan mountain trails. Approximately an hour after departure, Tamnagyegok Valley lies 2.9 km up the trail and is one of Korea’s three major valleys. It takes a little under 2 hours and 20 minutes to get to Samgakbong (1,500m above sea level). The steep path leading up the mountain is over 3 km long. The foot of Janggumok where the grandeur of Samgakbong soars into the sky, is an ideal place to rest and take in the wonderful views. Then a 20 minute stroll leads to the bottom of Wanggwanbawi (=crown) Rock, and many consider the climbing course up Wanggwanbawi Rock to be the roughest trail of all. From the rock, it finally takes about an hour to get to the summit along the east ridge of Baengnokdam (about 1.3Km). The other way down the mountain, after admiring the scenery of Bangnokdam Crater, is Seongpanak Trail.
The one way of the trail is 8.7 km which takes about 5 hours. A little bit shorter, but takes a little more time than Seongpanak Trail as it’s the hardest trail among all Hallasan mountain Trails.
